Insomnia and Sleep Challenges

Sleep is an essential component for health, yet many people have challenges getting enough sleep. Sleep difficulties can be caused by a number of physiological, psychological, or environmental factors which can be explored in detail in sessions.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder that refers to difficulty falling or staying asleep, and causes daytime fatigue. Some people experience occasional insomnia symptoms, however if these symptoms persist over time, chronic insomnia may develop. Insomnia can also impact mood, diet, energy levels, health, and overall quality of life.

Whether you are experiencing insomnia, or are having trouble with sleeping, there are options to help. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) is a safe and effective treatment focused on treating factors contributing to insomnia. CBT-i is a structured treatment typically delivered over 4-8 sessions and involves cognitive (e.g., thoughts), behavioural (e.g., sleep habits), and psychoeducational interventions. The overall goal is to improve your sleep quality, quantity, and develop healthy sleep habits.
