My Approach
My name is Rebecca (she/her) and I am a counsellor who works with adults in varying populations in their journey through self-evolution and empowerment. I primarily work with folks who have experienced trauma using techniques such as EMDR and somatic-based approaches. I believe that our body and mind are innately connected and these techniques aid in highlighting this connection.
I am especially passionate about working with first responders and the LGBTQ+ community. Being someone who identifies as queer as well as the offspring of a long line of first responders, I am aware of the many hardships and barriers that exist on a daily basis for those belonging to these communities.
I strive to help folks reclaim the strength and power that lies within us all. It takes an exponential amount of vulnerability and courage to seek out counselling and do the hard work that is necessary in a counselling environment. I try my best to provide a space that honours this vulnerability by creating safety and comfort in a seemingly challenging place to be.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a trauma-based treatment that focuses on alleviating distress caused by traumatic events. The goal of EMDR is to access painful memories and transform them into empowerment which, in turn, resolves any negative beliefs and distressing emotions and bodily sensations. This is accomplished by using bilateral stimulation such as eye movement, tapping, or auditory tones.
